Now, Not Later
I think it’s a little funny, how we believe that what we say matters much in how others behave.
At some point we realize it’s how we ourselves behave that most influences others.Having parents who walked the walk and seldom talked about the sacrifices that required was so constructive. Kids hear sacrifice and feel guilt, and that’s not the right message.
Mom starting as a postal worker and retired as a dean of our state’s largest medical school. Dad volunteered for the Navy, joined the union, and then worked with me. As mom says, she lived to work because she loved it, and my dad worked to live because he loved us.
So fortunate to be with my parents down here in Florida tonight. And in awe of how our calling to take care of other’s families brought me to where they were to enjoy her 78th birthday. 🎂
